Pursella Persians is a proud family owned and operated business from a small community in Southeastern Michigan. I founded our cattery in 2012 after a series of changes in my life brought me to a professional crossroads. I’d been teaching elementary students for twenty years, and I was passionate and happy in my work. However, I’d always been intrigued by the world of cat breeding, specifically Persians, sparked by a tradition that my mother and I started in my early twenties of going to cat shows together. At this crossroads, I realized my opportunity to take the aspects of teaching that I loved- the creativity, the emphasis on early development, the independence- and translate these aspects into a new venture: Pursella Persians. My children were thrilled when I announced the idea to them, and I like to think that we’ve continued the tradition I shared with my mother so many years ago. My children, husband, and I all adore contributing to the cattery. My children help me in almost every aspect of our cattery, from feedings and combings to coordinating photoshoots. My husband, a hobby carpenter and painter, actually handmade all of the kitty climbing structures shown in the video on our homepage! Experiencing my children and husband enjoy the creative aspect of our business the way I have has been so rewarding. Raising our kittens and finding them their forever homes is truly a labor of love for us, and I’m so grateful to be able to share it with our amazing forever families!
